Article - Fact Check (Channel 4)   Is Wikipedia a reliable source Free Wikipedia itself admits that it’s not 100 per cent accurate – because, except in certain cases where entry is restricted to prevent vandalism, “anyone with internet access can write and make changes to Wikipedia articles”. Website   Wikipedia - using for internet research Free

Whilst its main selling point that 'anyone can edit almost every page' gives the opportunity for the site to contain the web's largest bank of knowledge, it does however therefore mean that a lot of information can be published with little or no moderation. Obviously the majority of facts contained on the website are going to be reliable - people wouldn't waste thousands of hours writing imaginary material, but there is always that tiny percentage of people out there that who are going to put erroneous stuff on it (be it through accidental misunderstanding of a topic or for purposeful malicious reasons).
